Sports Force Parks named 2017 Champion of Economic Impact

Sports Destination Management has named its 2017 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism, and Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center’s Fourth of July Fireworks Classic was chosen as one of the national winners! This award recognizes sporting events across the country that have provided a significant economic impact to their local economies. The winners are responsible for contributing more than $400 million to the national economy over the past year.

“With the majority of our teams coming from outside Erie County, it’s given the park an amazing opportunity to introduce people to the many attractions our area has to offer, said General Manager Molly White. She continued, “What we’ve seen is that our guests are able to combine their tournament experience with a fun family vacation, especially during a busy holiday weekend like Fourth of July.”

“This year’s nominations were incredible,” said Sports Designation Management Publisher Fonda Johnson. “We were amazed not just by the sheer volume of events, but by the scope. We saw an amazing array of entries — from team to individual, from youth to seniors, and across all disciplines and all levels of play.”

In addition to this award, Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center has also won a Reader's Choice Award from Sports Destination Management, "#1 Ballpark With Accessible Fields Every Planner Should See" from SportsEvents Magazine, the Above and Beyond Award from Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Certificate of Recognition from Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and recognition "for development of a considerable tourism and economic impact project" from the State of Ohio General Assembly.
