Q&A with Scott Henrichsen, General Manager

Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center’s mantra is “SPORTS. FAMILY. FUN.” How did this concept emerge?

Our location in Sandusky, Ohio is a place that’s already known for family and fun due to Cedar Point’s presence, so it seemed like a natural extension to develop a park that adds the sports element. Although tournaments are the reason kids are here, we wanted to take the focus off of winning and place it more on making family memories. That’s why we’ve enhanced the typical sports park experience by offering a lot of other fun activities that everyone will enjoy, like the Sky Bounce, Putt-In Bay 18 Hole Miniature Golf Course, Sky Trail ropes course and a Pros and Minors Playground. We want everyone to leave having had the same great experience, no matter what the outcome of their game.

What will you find at Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center that you won’t find at any other sports park complex?

At our facility, you won’t have to worry about leaving and figuring out what to do between games, because there’s going to be great food offerings, awesome entertainment, and access to the Great Lawn for picnics. In terms of convenience, you’re not going to find a lot of other sports parks that have the restroom facilities we have, which are especially helpful for families.

Another great aspect is the people that designed and installed these fields are the same people that have installed fields at many professional and college-level facilities. For kids to be able to play on these types of fields at such a young age is an opportunity we’re really excited to offer. Additionally, we have an adaptive field that is ADA-accessible. It’s very important to us that we provide an accepting environment for all children to play sports.

What should families expect when they come to Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center?

They should expect to receive top-notch customer service that makes their day efficient and maximizes the fun. Our team is working hard to ensure that everyone who visits knows that they’re valued customers, and that we want them to come back year after year.

What’s your favorite feature of the park?

As a baseball player, when I first walked through, I was amazed to see the bullpen for kids to warm up in. Never in my years of playing did I see that until the college level, so that’s pretty exciting. I also love that we’re able to cater to many different sports and will have the ability to host lots of different events. The sky’s the limit here!
